Most of the Clients complain that Freelancers hired by them are not on the same page with their thought processes. Vis-à -vis Freelancers grapple with a lack of clarity in the brief given by the Client. This ‘disconnect’ between the Client and Freelancer is what leaves behind the bitter after-taste of a discontented working relationship.
Is there a way to avoid these kinds of situations?
Making use of the huge database support of afaqs! we plunged headlong to understand why such situations occur. We approached Clients and made a list of complaints they had with Freelancers. The more we listened to them, the more we understood that the discontentment did not reflect on the ability or capability of the freelancer.
More often than not the blame lies at the door of the Client.
Before you venture out to give a brief to the Freelancers, be sure of what you want. Say for example you are looking for Freelancers to give you logo samples. You might not know which color or what font should be used in the logo, but you would definitely know what the logo should convey. Should it be brash and bold, or cool and corporate? In some instances you might not know what you want, but you might have a very clear idea of what you definitely don’t want. Share your views with the Freelancers. Involve them in your thought process and let them in on every good and bad you associate with the project.
Always keep in mind that Freelancers are the outside link. They are not as close to the project as you are until you make them feel that way. You on the other hand have given birth to the project, you are aware of every nuance which completes the project. It is thus your responsibility to make a Freelancer as aware of the project as you are.
If you choose to give the Freelancers the freedom to execute the project the way they want to, be sure to open your mind to the thousands of possibilities they might bring up. Without a guideline the Freelancers are compelled to feel their way around your thought process. Every idea you reject with sound validation, gives them a further insight into what you possibly could want. This approach to a project is long and requires a lot of patience on both ends.
At Plug Into Projects we believe in simplifying freelancing and making it an experience worth looking forward to. While we have been quick to come up with efficient tools for the Freelancers to improve the quality of their services, we also find it imperative to inform the Clients of the many ways to ease their relationship with the Freelancers.
A well-defined and transparent thought process has tempted many Clients to write testimonials about their working relationships and many Freelancers have written about how this particular work approach has benefited them.
